A lot of intelligence has been added to application development till now in web world but data intelligence has still been a very challenging task. Data is very important and the well known data-as-king phrase supports the fact. A major challenge is to keep the useful data in a meaningful form. By useful data, I mean here that GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out) strategy should be implemented.
Semantics Web is the field of cloud science to solve the data intelligence problem. Semantics can be better explained as “an intelligent information flow machine”.

Information conglomeration has become a major challenge for organizations. Data spread across numerous computers housed in different locations is not a good solution and companies are realizing this fact. The inconvenience is causing organizations not only monetary losses but also irritating customers who have to wait for a long amount of time even for single small piece of data. (”Office Office” is an Indian humor TV series focusing on the worst information flow and problems faced by customers while retrieving even small piece of Information. Do watch sometime if you get time.)

Web 1.0 is a synonym for the world wide web and a term majorly used during the dotcom bubble in 2001. I personally know web 1.0 as web-as-information-source. The web which provides only information and where the interaction with the end user is not of major concern.
Web 1.0 is majorly used for static pages where the presentation of content is of major concern, e.g., company websites, client-server interactions and personal pages (e.g., in geocities). Read the rest of this entry »
