Semantics – an overview

A lot of intelligence has been added to application development till now in web world but data intelligence has still been a very challenging task.  Data is very important and the well known data-as-king phrase supports the fact.  A major challenge is to keep the useful data in a meaningful form. By useful data, I mean here that GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out) strategy should be implemented.

Semantics Web is the field of cloud science to solve the data intelligence problem. Semantics can be better explained as “an intelligent information flow machine”.

Data as a blob is no longer acceptable. Data needs to be broken down into keywords, keyword-keyword relationships for the data as well as  keywords classification. There is a whole big field of ontology dedicated for all these relationships.  A good semantics algebra can quantify these relationships making the end products to serve better and intelligent information using user behaviour.  The algebra will evolve an algorithm which will use information as well as behaviour patterns, learning by examples to serve information to users from “What and when do you need coffee?” to “Its already been 6! Should we serve you your favourite CCD Irish Coffee.”

That is it for the overview part. Will keep posting some good things I derive / know.
